Walking trails

In addition to hiking, biking, and running trails, you can enjoy the Carlisle Fort, a prehistoric Indian hilltop fortification from 2,000 years ago. Originally a ceremonial and defensive place, the fort is located in a beautiful forested area. Near the park’s main entrance near 8502 Chamberlain Road, you can view a marker that shows the site’s history.

The main walking path throughout the park is the Gallery Loop, a 1.75-mile circuit that takes you through the landscape. However, it can be difficult to walk the entire loop as some of the paths are steep. Be sure to watch for pedestrians if you are driving the loop. There are several places to park your car along the way. If you don’t have a car, you can park at one of the several lots.

Another option is the Mount Airy Forest. This 13-mile forest features an extensive network of trails. You can enjoy a peaceful stroll or a brisk hike in this park, while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The Krohn Conservatory is also located at the park, as well as the Cincinnati Art Museum and Playhouse in the Park. While you’re in the park, you can take advantage of free yoga classes or exercise clubs. The park also has plenty of facilities for family gatherings and other activities.
