The Great Parks of Hamilton County is a county park district located in Hamilton County, Ohio. The district was established in 1930 and opened its first park in 1932. Up until 2014, the organization was known as the Hamilton County Park District. Today, the organization manages 17 parks and four conservation areas. A family-friendly day out for nature lovers in the Hamilton area begins at the Cool Creek Nature Center in Great Park of Hamlin Country Woodland. This park-based natural science center features seasonal exhibits on local wildlife and habitat preservation. The center also holds programs aimed at educating the public about the importance of local habitats. Here, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the park and its ecosystems.
The Cool Creek Nature Center is a 90-acre park located east of US 31. The park contains four miles of wooded trails, a nature-play area, and prairies. The center features an interpretive center that highlights the natural science of Indiana woodlands. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk. Another must-visit is the Dog Park, where dogs are welcome. The park has a new playground with several SOMAStations that encourage adult physical activity. There are also 13 slides and two-disc swings, along with several audio elements. The four-mile nature trails are perfect for children and adults of all ages. The park also has paved paths so that visitors can travel on them without any difficulty.
This summer, the Wet Playgrounds at three Great parks in Hamilton County is open again. Located at Winton Woods, Winton Mound, and Woodland Mound, these wet playgrounds are designed for children ages two to twelve. Admission is $6 per child and parents or guardians must supervise children. Children under the age of five should be accompanied by an adult.
For younger kids, the park has Parky’s Wetland Adventure, a 16-foot tree with two water slides, a giant turtle, and lots of water-spraying animals and flowers. The park also has separate sections for younger kids. While the ground is partly padded, there is plenty of water to go around for those with a fear of heights.
In order to enjoy the Wet Playgrounds, motor vehicles must purchase a valid permit. Visitors can purchase a pass at the park entrance for $10 or $15 for non-residents. Vehicles are required to have an annual motor vehicle permit. Visitors will be notified when their vehicle is allowed entry into the park. Upon entering, guests must wear a helmet and have a valid motor vehicle license.

The Great Parks of Hamilton County features 39 hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging, and allow you to ride bikes or stroll on foot. There are 78 miles of trails in all, so there’s a path for every skill level. Hikers will find many interesting views of the river as they hike the Wetland Loop Trail in the Great Park of Hamilton Country Woodland.
The Wetland Loop Trail in Great Park Of Hamilton County is a 1.6-mile trail that passes through multiple habitats, including forests, marshes, and ponds. The Wetland Loop Trail is particularly popular for seeing dragonflies and butterflies. Another 1.1-mile trail features woodland birds and bright flowers in spring and summer. The Little Turtle Trail is adjacent to the Wetland Loop Trail.
The Wetland Loop Trail is a 1.2-mile paved trail, and there are several other trails ranging in length from.7-mile to 3.4-miles in length. There is also a one-mile wooded trail called the Wood Duck.
