Walking Stick Decorating activity

If you’re a sucker for the outdoors then the Cincinnati Nature Center in Milford, OH is the place to be. The most impressive thing about the center is that its programs are free to patrons of all ages. In addition to its more than sixteen miles of hiking trails, the center also provides an excellent array of exhibits and displays featuring everything from dinosaurs to fungi to narwhals. As of this writing, the center is currently hosting a whopping eighteen events, all of which are free to the public. Those wishing to get a little more hands-on can drop by the center’s education department to learn more about its many educational offerings, or go on a tour of the grounds in the company of like-minded explorers.

Bird watching

If you love bird watching, you’ll be happy to know that Cincinnati has plenty of locations where you can go to watch a variety of birds. From small preserves to large open parks, there’s a place for you.

Winton Woods is one of the most popular places for bird watching in the Queen City. The site has several hiking trails and a pond. It’s a great location to see blue herons.

Another great place to check out is the Caldwell Nature Preserve. This site offers 3.5 miles of walking paths and is frequently uncrowded.

There’s also Rowe Woods, a park that consists of streams, fields and forests. There’s a birding program that meets on designated Saturdays, so be sure to register.

Turtle feeding

The Cincinnati Nature Center in Milford, Ohio has more than 1,000 acres of land to explore. It’s got over 16 miles of trails ranging from short to long, and is a fun place to spend a day, afternoon, or week. This is one of the best places in town to go hiking.

One of the more interesting features of the center is their Mashburn Family Discovery Trail. A little less than a mile in length, the trail leads through the old growth forest and along creeks and rivers.

The nature center also offers a host of interactive programs that are presented by naturalists. These include the Mashburn Family Discovery Trail, a Nature PlayScape, a maze, and a nature photography walk.

There is a lot of fun to be had at the Cincinnati Nature Center, and the staff is more than willing to help you plan a day out.

CincyNature Camps

The Cincinnati Nature Center’s (CNC) CincyNature Camps provide children of all ages with the opportunity to experience nature in a safe and fun way. These week long nature day camps are a great way to introduce your kids to new outdoor adventures while also teaching them to appreciate nature.

The CNC’s Trailside Volunteer Program encourages adults of all ages to learn about the natural world and engage in activities that promote conservation. This program is also a great way to give back to your community.

One of the many perks of this volunteer program is getting to explore the Cincinnnati Nature Center’s nearly 1,800 acres. You can enjoy a variety of nature programs including the popular CNC Seed Collection Project. For example, you can help harvest and process the seed to create a resource for native shrubs and trees.

Outdoor events at The Nature Playscape

Cincinnati Nature Center has an amazing assortment of outdoor events to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a day in the sun or an evening at the pond, there are events to suit everyone’s needs. In addition to nature hikes and trail walks, you can also take part in educational seminars and workshops.

Cincinnati Nature Center has been welcoming visitors since it opened in 1995. It offers over an acre of natural habitats and a variety of trails to enjoy. They also host night hikes, Nature Led Hikes, and encounters with birds of prey.

The Groesbeck Estate at Cincinnati Nature Center is an idyllic retreat with indoor and outdoor spaces. Built in 1920, the lodge was renovated in 2017. Inside, it holds 45 guests. There’s also an expansive back deck to relax on. Check our next area of interest here.
